Movie Review: Sooryavanshi

Sooryavanshi

People who had been missing the big screen- the movie is a good kick start, to invest sometime in theatres. One thing I like about Rohit Shetty FILAMS is that he makes sure to have a good divide of screen presence amongst his cast, throughout the FILAM. All the characters appear important.

Are you planning to see Sooryavanshi this festival?

Well, let’s talk about the first half of the movie. Crisp, curt, Akshay Kumar, his action, the comic timing, Jaaved Jaafferi, everything seems in place. Pre-interval is thoroughly enjoyable, and a complete paisa vasool, for people- who love this genre of AK. Akshay Kumar is good. Good cinematography, no over the top drama, Sooryavanshi seems so unlike Rohit Shetty Production.

Only to give you that Hindi Filam wali feeling in the latter half. Post interval, the movie becomes a little too melodramatic. No it does not turn boring, but a little TOO melodramatic. I sometimes wonder- for how long, we Indians will pump ourselves with patriotism via Hindi Films, and forget about it- once out of the theatre?

Ranveer Singh has done well. Ajay Devgan in his usual self. I don’t like him too much.

All in all, Sooryavanshi is a good watch this weekend.

The USP of the movie is the recreation of the song, ‘Tip Tip Barsa Pani’. Well it is difficult to decide who has carried it well, Raveena in the older version, or Katrina in Sooryavanshi. But one thing is for sure, Akshay Kumar in this version looks much hotter than that version.

If you are able to decide between Raveena Tandon and Katrina Kaif, do comment below.
