Jawan: Movie Review
The wait is over!
Somebody has said it all right- “Agar Filam mei Shahrukh Khan hai toh screenplay ki 100 galtiyan maaf!” (If a film has Shahrukh Khan in it, then even a hundred mistakes of the screenplay can be ignored).
The basic problem with all these big star-studded movies is that the Director tries to squeeze in everything, and ends up squashing everything rather. That is what has happened with Jawan too. I personally do not like the plots which do not establish and justify the characters of the movie.
Jawan does the same. Arey kum characters rakho na yaar, (keep it simple and minimal)! But no, they will call everyone on the sets and then waste them. Kyunki footage toh apna Shahrukh hi khayega na (because limelight is for Shahrukh only)! And the rest will be snatched away by the guest appearances.
I do agree that Shahrukh Khan’s aura is supremely addictive, but he does not know how to act. Fact hai bhaai, gali mat do mujhe! Aura is of course bigger than skills, hence proven Jawan will win the windows of the box office.
Vijay Sethupathi appears as a sweet villain. Not at all scary. Women including Nayanthara have done their parts pretty ok! I do not feel writing anything in particular about them.
The story has many loopholes. My expectations were high, and were not met. Some scenes will catch your attention but as a whole, Jawan could have been better. Go and watch it one time if you do not always prefer meaningful cinema. Many social issues are a part of the story. But sadly, none of these issues will be remembered once you are out of the theatre. Jawan drops an indirect suggestion for its audiences to choose AAP over Modi! This is my perception. Tell me if you have a similar one.
